At South Highlands we pride ourselves on 100% participation in the PTA.  Your PTA membership not only provides support for South Highlands, but a portion of the membership fee goes to the Caddo District PTA and the Louisiana PTA.  These organizations offer training and support for our SHM PTA officers.  They also sponsor contests like Reflections and Safety Drawing.  This year we are offering a popsicle party for all homeroom classes with 100% PTA participation.  It's easy to join online at the PTA Memberships Store.  Each member of your family can be a PTA member - don't forget to sign up your students too. 

The homeroom class with the highest number of memberships will receive a donut party!

There are only a few days left in our Write a Check fundraiser.  We are hoping to reach our goal of $10,000 so that we do not have to sell chocolate, raffle tickets, cookie dough or magazines.  The response so far has been great! RUNNING CLUB REMINDER

The deadline for signing up for South Highlands Running Club is Wednesday, September 4th!  It is open to all 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. It meets after school on Thursdays, starting September 19th. Pick up time is 4:00pm. Cost is $25.00 if you need a t-shirt, and $20.00 if not. If you have any questions, contact Lena Harris at laharris@caddoschools.org.

We have some exciting news about the HomeworkLouisiana free tutoring service. The one-to-one tutoring hours are now 2 pm to Midnight, 7 Days a Week! Students may now access this service from any internet-connected computer or mobile device during these hours, even from a school campus after 2:00 pm.  

We are offering two Back-to-School HomeworkLouisiana Webinars in September taught by Tutor.com. 

These free webinars will demonstrate the many features of HomeworkLouisiana and anyone (educators, librarians, parents,  etc.) may attend. The sessions will be recorded and a link to the recording will be emailed to anyone who registers. Click here to register:

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce a pre-order for a custom designed South Highlands Christmas Ornament.  These ornaments will be delivered in late November or early December.  Only 100 ornaments have been ordered, so don't miss out!
